The Future of Sports Governance – Beyond Autonomy is the latest in Institute’s Future of Governance series which looks at key areas of the economy in turn, addressing the principal issues in the governance environment and reflecting on future directions.
This report addresses the claims to autonomy and self-regulation which sports bodies have traditionally made for themselves and considers how these have been affected by the sector’s growth, its changing role and the various pressures under which its organisations operate. Focusing on the UK and primarily on publicly-funded bodies, it assesses the governance challenges recently faced and looks ahead to some of the issues yet to be tackled.
