Yealm Community Energy (YCE) is a community benefit society, established in 2015. We own and operate three solar farms in the South Hams in Devon.
We are seeking an individual with secretariate and governance experience and an interest in community-based renewable energy and ecology to join the board and support us in the next stage of the society’s journey.
As a community benefit society, YCE is:-
- registered with the Financial Conduct Authority,
- bound by the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 to distribute the financial surpluses we generate back into our local communities by way of grants that align with our rules, and
- owned by its 150 members on a strict one member, one vote principle, irrespective of the amount of individual investment.
The role is part time and unpaid. However, the board believe the role will provide the potential for rich engagement with the rest of the board, our members and our local communities.
