The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) was set up in 2016 with a remit to make the UK the safest place to live and work online. It is part of GCHQ.
NCSC provides a range of advice and guidance for individuals and organisations, and for those with and without a technical background.
Part of NCSC’s support to business was the development of the Cyber Security Toolkit for Boards, designed to enable board members to have crucial conversations with their technical staff about cyber security both to seek assurance and also be able to drive crucial improvements.
This is in recognition that few board members have detailed knowledge of the topic but that cyber security is very much a board level concern as it’s a strategic issue.
The toolkit introduces key cyber security topics and suggests a range of questions that boards might want to ask to help them to understand what ‘good’ cyber security in their organisation might look like.
You can more about the thinking behind the toolkit in this blog.
