João Barreiro

João Barreiro is a privacy executive with a long experience dedicated to develop privacy programs in multibillion-dollar multinationals operating in the pharmaceutical, IT and financial sectors. He is currently the Chief Privacy Officer (Global) of BeiGene, a global biotechnology company focused on developing innovative and affordable medicines to improve treatment outcomes and access for patients worldwide. João is also a Consultative Expert Member on Digital Ethics/Artificial Intelligence in Insurance at the EIOPA, the European Union regulator responsible for the supervision of the Insurance Industry.

In 2020, he was listed as a "Global Top 100 Data Visionaries: Leaders who are vividly innovating with analytics without compromising on trust and privacy" and, in 2018, he was awarded with the Data Leader Award on Data Protection by the Information Age Magazine.

João also serves as a member of the Research Advisory Board of the IAPP and he is a co-author of the book Privacy Program Management used as the main training material for all the IAPP CIPP/M certifications.
