Remuneration reporting can easily fall victim to boiler plate – there is a lot of prescription about the form and content of the report. But some companies showed that even within this structure it is possible to give great insight. Our winner, for example, offered a very helpful letter from the chair, which was explicit about the impact of COVID and why the committee had made the decisions that it had. There were some good rationales for payment or non-payment of dividends and the impact of this decision on remuneration, both at board level and throughout the company.
