A project might be defined as being a planned endeavour, a piece of work that is carried out individually or collaboratively, carefully planned, resourced and managed and which leads to the achievement of a specific goal.
This award recognises those governance projects that are so significant in terms of their size, nature or the value created that they could be described as ’transformational’. Nominees may have achieved any one of a variety of things. They may, for example, have taken a novel approach to recognise and manage risk, or transformed the governance of their subsidiaries. They may perhaps have aimed to improve relations with investors and other stakeholders, or maybe worked on a merger or takeover. Or perhaps they set themselves the goal of driving higher standards of governance across the organisation.
Whatever the nature of the project, the judges are looking for evidence of its having had a very practical, and positive, impact. Nominees can be individuals or teams in any sector, and the project must have been completed within the 12 months to 31 July 2020.
