There are dozens of books on reputation management, and I have seem to have read most of them. Many of them are very unsatisfying, repeating the same old case studies from which they draw the same cliched lessons. This book however is very different. It is rare to find a book in this genre which deserves an unqualified endorsement, but Coleman’s latest publication is such a book.

Amanda Coleman is the well-known author of “Crisis Communication Strategies” (2nd Ed, 2023) and “Everyday Communication Strategies” (2022). With “Strategic Reputation Management” she has written another “must-have” guide and completed a trilogy of communications texts.

I have long thought that governance professionals are central to an organisation’s reputation. In many ways the Company Secretary is already the “Chief Reputation Officer”, and therefore this book should be well received within the governance profession. “Good Governance” is a major factor in building the confidence of investors, regulators and business partners, and governance professionals are well positioned to resolve reputational crises which originate in legal, regulatory or financial matters (as many crises do).

Coleman’s book is packed with the latest insights and strategies to help you navigate the ups and downs of corporate reputation. A notable highlight of this book is its use of case studies, which ground the text in real world examples. This thoughtful and useful book will certainly help governance professionals to find their feet in this rapidly growing field.

An invaluable (and career-enhancing) book such as this can be recommended to those new to reputation management, and to seasoned experts. It should be on the shelves of every governance professional.
