David Mortimer

David Mortimer has been Head of External Affairs at CGIUKI since early 2020. He practiced as a solicitor in Scotland and London for several years before branching out into public affairs and communications and has worked in the public, private and third sectors during his career.

David has been a senior member of staff for two of the biggest national change campaigns of recent decades: Digital TV Switchover which managed the changeover from analogue to digital TV. During his time there he set up a charity to deliver outreach communications through local charities and communities across the UK, lauded as a model for best practice by government. He also worked on the inception of the smart meter roll-out campaign.

At Age UK David campaigned for better digital inclusion for older people as well as designing accessible services for an older age group. Prior to joining CGIUKI he was Head of Policy and Communications for a membership body specialising in supporting people back into work.
