Mark Howorth

Mark has experienced a diverse career working in a variety of governance-focused roles. Following his role as a Detective with West Yorkshire Police, Mark pursued a career in business management to attain a work/life balance. Securing a position with the governing body for Rugby League granted Mark the opportunity to work on major sporting events in large stadiums in the UK and abroad. Mark’s subsequent position as a Business Manager in primary education, enabled experience in another sector.

After attending a post graduate fair at Leeds Beckett University, Mark enrolled on the Corporate Governance Master’s course to attain a Master’s level qualification and in-depth subject knowledge for career development. Seeking to experience a specialised role in corporate governance, Mark applied and successfully secured a position as Assistant Company Secretary for a pension investment company. Recently, he has returned to higher education at the University of Leeds to focus on leading and implementing a wider range of projects, managing staff and being involved in strategic leadership decisions.
