Thomas Becket, Co-Chief Investment Officer, Canaccord Wealth

Tom started his journey in the wealth management industry in 2004.

He joined the company as part of the acquisition of Punter Southall Wealth (PSW) where he had been the Chief Investment Officer. The PSW investment service had won awards and had a long track record of achieving their clients’ financial aims.

Today, together with Richard Champion Tom now co-leads the investment process, asset allocation decisions and multi-asset model portfolio construction and is responsible for fixed interest research. He also spends a lot of time working with internal financial planners and external contacts to explain the investment proposition. He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with an MA (Hons) in Classics in 2003.

Dr Scarlett Brown, Director of Think Tank, Board Intelligence

Scarlett leads the Think Tank at Board Intelligence, a mission-led technology and advisory firm which specialises in services to fund administrators, plc and management boards to improve board effectiveness and the quality of decision making. Scarlett is an accomplished author and speaker, specialising in topics such as business in society, ESG practices, and leadership, and she previously served as the Director of Research at Tomorrow's Company.

Lynne Capie is an accomplished crisis communications professional, with over twenty years of experience in senior leadership roles in the hospitality, government, finance and legal sectors and for offshore and global businesses.

She is adept in developing communications strategies and plans, using her experience and deep understanding of reputational risk and audience behaviours to effectively manage and engage client, stakeholder and media relationships to protect businesses reputations and commercial interests

Her experience of incident management and business continuity planning was developed working for one of the largest global banks, from an onshore and offshore perspective. This involved disaster recovery planning for the bank's physical estate and incident management of a series of high profile and high risk events experienced by the bank

She was responsible for the management of the communications and media element of one of the largest cyber attacks ever to be experienced by the Offshore Financial Centres.

Since setting up Soteria in 2022, Lynne has worked with a number of organisations to profile and assess their existing and emerging risks and to develop incident scenario plans and communications playbooks to support the development of their business continuity and incident management plans and playbooks.

Lynne has been engaged by the Jersey Cyber Security Centre (JCSC) since 2022 on a number of projects including a number of Cyber Security Awareness Campaigns to support Islander's understanding of the impact of cyber events through the delivery of a series of sector specific cyber simulation events

Lynne has worked on a number of global crises, leading the communications response for organisations in the technology, financial, construction and legal sectors. She has also worked with numerous businesses to develop their proactive cyber communications plans and key messaging.

Lynne specialises in reputation management, building trust strategies to secure sustainable futures for organisations who have experienced crises

Richard joined the company in 2015 from Sanlam Private Wealth where he was Chief Investment Officer.

Today, alongside Tom Becket he co-leads the investment process, asset allocation decisions and multi-asset model portfolio construction and is responsible for equity research. He is also in charge of integrating tailored portfolio clients into the investment process.

He has extensive experience structuring risk-profiled portfolio architectures. In addition to his experience with multi-asset portfolios, he has managed global, European and UK equity portfolios for a variety of institutional and high net-worth client investors.

Natalie is a seasoned accounting professional and educator with a career spanning more than three decades. After qualifying as an accountant in the private tax department of Coopers & Lybrand in 1992, she turned her attention to nurturing future generations of finance and governance professionals. Over the years, she has provided specialised exam tuition for aspiring accountants and chartered governance professionals across the United Kingdom and in Jersey, establishing herself as a respected authority in professional education.

In addition to her teaching roles, Natalie has successfully managed a large organisation operating across multiple jurisdictions, demonstrating her strong leadership, strategic thinking, and adaptability. She is also the founder of Chapter One, a professional exam training company based in Jersey. Through this venture, she has helped students navigate the complexities of professional qualifications, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to excel in the financial sector.

Natalie played a pivotal role in introducing the IFA 4 and IFA 5 qualifications into the Channel Islands during the late 1990s, thereby expanding the range of opportunities available to financial services professionals. She has always believed in the importance of embedding core knowledge early in an employee’s career, laying a solid foundation for future growth. Above all, Natalie is passionate about demystifying complex concepts. She harnesses a variety of creative training tools, from interactive exercises to case studies, to make challenging material accessible, engaging, and relevant. Her dedication, combined with her wealth of experience, has helped countless individuals achieve their professional goals.

Zoe Dixon-Smith, Managing Director, Baker Regulatory Services

Zoe is a senior Risk & Compliance practitioner with a demonstrated history of over 30 years’ practical experience in Offshore finance.

She is experienced both locally and globally in risk, compliance, governance and financial crime prevention having held roles at a broad range of businesses including international banks, privately owned trust and fund companies as well as listed PLCs.

Skilled in enhancing the performance of Risk & Compliance functions and corporate governance frameworks and specialising in risk mitigation and financial regulations, especially financial crime prevention.

Zoe joined Baker Regulatory Services in February 2024 and was appointed as Managing Director in October 2024 where they provide hands on and practical support to regulated and supervised businesses in relation to financial regulation and financial crime legislation.

In addition to working for the Jersey Financial Services Commission for three years as a regulatory supervisor, she is an experienced executive director having spent over 10 years on the boards of regulated financial institutions. She has also held Key Person positions acting as MLRO, MLCO and Compliance Officer for Service Providers, Funds and Managed Entities for over 25 years.

She is a Fellow of the International Compliance Association holding diplomas in Anti Money Laundering and Financial Crime Prevention and the Jersey Certificate in Offshore Administration.

Susan Fadil, Senior Director – Fund & Corporate Services, JTC

Susan joined JTC in early 2017 providing corporate governance and advisory services and has over 30 years’ experience within professional service firms.

She has managed several “fit for listing” governance reviews, the implementation of corporate governance frameworks together with pre and post IPO advisory services and the provision of board and committee meeting support and director training.

Susan’s focus since joining JTC has been on building a centre of excellence for corporate governance and advisory services primarily to UK listed Investment Trusts and REIT’s. She also supports the wider multi-jurisdictional teams on developing best practice in the governance arena. In her role she has responsibility for the management and oversight of a portfolio of listed entities and the associated administration team based in London and acts as company secretary to a number of listed entities within her client portfolio covering a wide range of asset classes including property, venture capital and renewables.

During 2016, Susan was a member of the CGI working party which developed an industry standard share dealing code, post implementation of the new Market Abuse Regime.

From 2016 to 2023, she was a member of the CGI UKRIAT Committee and Chair of the CGI Membership Committee. In 2023, Susan was nominated for the CGI Governance Professional of the Year. In 2024, Susan was the recipient of the CGI Champion for Governance Award.

John Phillip (known as Jim) Hopley MBE, Honorary chair of a number of charities and NPO’s, Retired volunteer. ex CEO of Channel Islands Co-operative Society

Jim is a volunteer who holds numerous roles across the Third Sector including Honorary Chair responsibilities for several Charities including the Jersey National Park and the Jersey Cheshire Home. A graduate of Nottingham University with an honours degree in Economics he also chairs Genuine Jersey the islands’ provenance mark and sits on Council at the Chamber of Commerce as a special advisor for the Third Sector and Sustainable Business. He also carries responsibility for the Leonard Cheshire Global Alliance where he chairs the European Region.

Jim had a long and successful career in Retailing where he held numerous senior management positions culminating in a period as CEO of Channel Islands Co-operative Society, one of Jersey’s largest retailers. He made the choice to retire early in his mid 60’s to be able to contribute his skills to several Charities and NPO’S in a voluntary capacity. He did not expect to be as busy as he still is in his mid 70’s but claims' he would not know what to do with himself without his numerous commitments. He was awarded for his efforts in 2022 with an MBE for services to the Community and Charities. This he states was not an award only for himself but for all the causes and colleagues he is involved with.

Jim is married with 3 children, a daughter and two stepsons and has one granddaughter. He has been resident in Jersey since 1979 and feels he is now nearly accepted as local. He has never had much time for hobbies, but his prime interest is his regular weekend trips to St Peter’s to watch his beloved Jersey Rugby Club play, both the Men's and the Women’s teams.

Heather-Anne is a risk, regulatory and business transformation specialist with experience in advising global financial institutions and driving strategic business transformation programmes within global financial institutions. She has held senior leadership roles in global law, consultancy and financial services firms, leading complex multi-million-pound projects and optimising operations across international business units.

As former Barrister & Solicitor (Ontario, Canada) and UK solicitor (non-practising) Heather-Anne has worked in private practice, as in-house counsel, and in independent risk as well as in investment banking in Canada, the UK and Jersey. She has provided director and governance training to regulated fund administration and trust company businesses in Jersey and globally for the past five years, in addition to being the founder of Phundex, as SaaS Fintech based in Jersey.

Peter Swabey is Policy & Research Director at The Chartered Governance Institute. Peter has 30 years' experience of the share registration industry, gained at Lloyds TSB Registrars and subsequently Equiniti and Equiniti David Venus amongst others. He is a member of the CBI Companies Committee, the QCA Corporate Governance Expert Group and the Shareholder Voting Working Group, as well as being an Alternate Member of the Takeover Panel and a past chairman of the The Chartered Governance Institute Registrars Group.

Garry Toy FCG, Managing Director, The Thayan Family Office Ltd

Garry started his professional life in offshore finance with Coopers & Lybrand in 1983 and he has now worked in the arena of Trust and Company structuring, management and administration for 40 years.

During his career, Garry has held board positions at several local and international trust companies. He also spent six years living and working at Bank of Bermuda in Hamilton, where his focus was primarily centred on estate, tax and wealth planning for UNHW residents of the US.

David joined JTC in 2013 and currently serves as both the Chief Communications Officer and Group Head of Sustainability Services.

As Chief Communications Officer, David is responsible for the JTC brand, all external and internal marketing communications and our Investor Relations function. In his role as Group Head of Sustainability Services, he leads the development and delivery of a wide range of Sustainability Services to clients across both Divisions and all geographic markets.

Prior to joining JTC, David held senior marketing and business development positions in financial services and the telecoms industry. He has over 20 years’ experience in marketing, communications, sales, business development and product development.

Tony Wood

Tony has been a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute since 2002, with Associate status gained in 1998.

He worked at Standard Bank for almost 28 years, rising to Head of Investment Strategy, focusing on multi-asset investing, having previously led the international Fixed Interest team.

Departing in 2019, he joined a small investment boutique, before joining JTC Group in 2021.

Tony is also a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and a Chartered Wealth Manager.
