About
The Centre for Synchronous Leadership (CSL) has conducted a large qualitative study of employee network leaders – including leaders of women’s networks, ethnic minority networks and LGBT+ networks from over 70 organisations across a variety of sectors.
When asked about the objectives and activates of their network, answers consistently fell into four categories. Each reflects a source of organisational power that network members have been partially excluded from, and which the networks seek to redress: community, progression, influence and awareness. For each category, the challenge network members faced in accessing power was indicative of deeper cultural issues affecting all employees.
CSL’s research has revealed a process for evolving the formula for exclusion that resonates with their work in transforming senior teams.
Report and roundtable
We are working in collaboration with CSL to publish a report in February 2020 on taking the findings from the research and applying this to leaders in governance.
The roundtable taking place on Wednesday 23 October will give us the chance to explore what does a governance leader look like? How does this apply to the co sec as an agent for change? The roundtable will explore the governance professional’s voice, the healthy flow of power and the significance and value of networks as part of change.
