Affiliated membership is our non-chartered level which recognises your professional achievement, value, capability and experience.

Affiliated membership is denoted by the use of the post-nominals CG (Affiliated) and acknowledges your commitment to our code of professional ethics and conduct and to keeping your skills up-to-date with continuing professional development.

If you do not hold any qualifications, you can enrol at any time of the year onto the CGIUKI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Corporate Governance online by clicking here.

How to apply

Steps

  1. Download and complete an application form
  2. Send your completed form to membership-journey@cgi.org.uk with the subject header line 'Affiliated Membership Application – Your Name’
    a. Attach a copy of your up to date CV and Job Description (for your current role only), plus any qualification certificates
  3. We will contact via email to confirm your eligibility
  4. If eligible, you will be sent a link to pay for your membership
  5. Receive a copy of your certificate and acceptance letter
  6. Start to your use your post-nominals CG (Affiliated)

Relevant work experience

Includes, but is not limited to, broad company secretarial and governance professional responsibilities as well as financial or management accounting, financial reporting, compliance, membership of or support of committees, pensions and insurance, share registry, general management, risk assessment/management/mitigation, IPO experience, auditing or change-management.

If you are working as a trustee or a non-executive director, we will consider your experience in full time years. 

We recognise the hard work of volunteers and NEDs and want you to be a part of CGIUKI, as an Affiliated member with the opportunity to progress to become chartered.

Job roles that will typically fit the requirement of the relevant work experience:

  • Non-executive Director/ Trustee (includes part-time trustee work counts towards the one-two year requirement)
  • Clerk
  • Governance administrator
  • Secretarial Assistant
  • Compliance Administrator
  • Financial Services Assistant Administrator

Becoming chartered

As a non-chartered member, CG (Affiliated), you can join the pathway to chartership by completing the core programme, the qualifying programme to become a graduate member to enable you to apply for associateship or fellowship – our chartered membership grades.
