The Chartered Governance Institute maintains a presence in North West England through its local branch committee. The local branch strives to enhance the presence of the Institute within the North West of England and North Wales, to support members and students throughout their careers and study programmes, as qualified or aspiring governance professionals. Meet your branch committee
Claire Blackburn FCG, Branch Chair
Claire is a Fellow of the Institute and is currently Director of Governance Services at Indigo Independent Governance. Claire supports a wide range of organisations and boards with their corporate governance and company secretarial needs. Claire is passionate about promoting good governance, in particular the importance of diversity and inclusion at the board level and throughout an organisation.
Recently, Claire contributed to researching and writing a section of the 2020 Hampton Alexander Report, looking at the talent pool of females within FTSE 350 companies. Claire joined the Indigo team in July 2021, having previously led the UK Company Secretarial team at KPMG. Prior to joining KPMG, Claire was a senior member of the company secretarial team at Eversheds Sutherland, responsible for transactional support services.
Cynthia Rashai, Student Champion
Cynthia joined the North West Branch Committee in August 2024, she holds an LLB from the University of Derby and studied the accredited LLM Corporate Governance and Law at the University of Portsmouth. Cynthia is passionate about raising the visibility and profile of Corporate Governance Professionals.
Currently Cynthia is Assistant Company Secretary at a FTSE 100, leading omnichannel retailer of Sports Fashion. Previously she has worked in various in-house and professional service roles including KPMG and Eversheds Sutherland supporting on corporate transactions, ad hoc projects, board support and compliance.
