Megan Barnes

Megan Barnes is a chartered governance professional with over 10 years’ industry experience having completed the LLM Corporate Governance and Law Masters at Portsmouth University in 2010. She started her career as a trainee in a professional services company going on to work in a number of positions at National Grid and Rolls-Royce before becoming Head of Company Secretariat at National Grid in January 2020.

She currently leads the Company Secretariat function and ensures effective Board and Committee meetings, having recently refreshed the governance framework to ensure that it remained fit for purpose and the remit of Committees reflected the changing external environment and the Company’s strategy.

She leads a team that is involved in many aspects of corporate governance including ensuring compliance with the London and New York listing rules, share plans, subsidiary governance and M&A projects. She has a particular interest in looking at evolving technology to support the role of the Company Secretary for the future.
