The local branch strives to enhance the presence of the Institute and, to support members and students throughout their careers and study programmes, as qualified or aspiring governance professionals. Branch Chair
George Coleman FCG
George Coleman is the Deputy Company Secretary at Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana), where he plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and listing rules. He is responsible for upholding corporate governance principles, advising the Board of Directors on regulatory updates, and coordinating board training and induction programmes for newly appointed directors.
George manages the organisation and documentation of board committee meetings and quarterly board sessions, and oversees the planning and execution of the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). His responsibilities also include reviewing and updating company policies in line with applicable laws.
Prior to joining MTN Ghana, George was a Manager in the Company Secretarial Services unit at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Ghana) Limited (PwC), where he gained over 13 years of experience. He is a Fellow of The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (FCG) and holds an MSc in Financial and Legal Management from the University of West London.
George specialises in regulatory advisory, corporate compliance reviews, statutory due diligence, Technology Transfer Agreement (TTA) reviews, foreign exchange control matters, inward investor services, and company secretarial support.

Ruthy Amakie Strauss-Ashiaby ACG
Ms. Ruthy Amakie Strauss-Ashiaby is a Legal Practitioner and an Associate of The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (ACG). Her practice areas are corporate law, commercial law and corporate governance.

Treasurer
Josephine Etse
Mrs. Josephine Etse is a distinguished Human Resource Management Practitioner with over 20 years working experience. She is an Associate member of the Chartered Governance Institute, UK, and currently serves as the Treasurer of the Association of the Chartered Governance Institute, West Africa Branch.
Additionally, she is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana.
With a strong background in HR, Mrs. Josephine Etse has worked with various organizations including Lambert Council, Brixton, UK, Insure by Net, Ghana, Netafric Dot Com Ltd, Perez Chapel International and currently works at Forestry Commission, Ghana.
Mrs. Josephine Etse holds a Master’s Degree in Financial and Legal Management from University of West London, UK. She is currently, furthering her education at Wisconsin University, Ghana where she is pursing a law degree. She is a devoted wife and mother of two.
