Finding your way around the LMS

Play the video to understand how to navigate our Learning Management System.

Hi, welcome to the TGI Learning Management System based on the tutorial platform.

This is the login window. You will see when you first click on that link, you will probably also have a privacy notice. We do kind of agree to before you actually log in, um, more often. Um, here I'm just gonna put in my username and password and the first space you kind of come to is going to be your dashboard logging in as a student.

So you'll see there are several different courses but also programs. We're gonna focus on the certificates, uh, in Academy Governance 25/26 cohort. This will be the same before charity law, sports, health service, social housing, etc.

On this side you have the left hand side. You've got the menu which will take you to different places. You can minimise it here and give yourself a bit extra screen space.

Over here at the top part you have the little cog wheel, which gives you access to competencies, but that's not really viable for you at this stage. You have here a message section which will then take you to the messaging area of the website. Here are the messages, which are actually, and then you have the little index there saying how many re unread messages there are.

This part here is your profile grades, messages back again, and then the preferences, but we'll go through that a bit later on.

On the main page, as I've mentioned, you've got your current courses of certificates in progress. Below that, you have the resource hub, which are the enrolled modules that you have been enrolled in your workspaces. This is a link back to my CG on the My CG platform. This is a link to all the webinars that you've been, that you have booked when you have done that, and then the support and FAQ hub where you've got the FAQs, support, learning. And here we've got also keynote speech for 2025 at the governor's conference and a small welcome message where we also kind of put announcements here as well. This will be the video that is currently being recorded here.

You've got a calendar of webinars which are coming up, so if you click on the next month, for example, October, you'll see that there are webinars and then you should just roll over it. Then you'll know which ones are kind of coming up for you. Another space for about the CGI. So there you go.

This is like the main section which you will land each time you look into this place. And if you are doing academy course, for example, could be another one. If you click on that, it takes you then to the breakup of the courses where you have here your induction, the core governance knowledge and skills, which is not available for the corporate governance and the health services governance. But for the other three four there will be, you've got the webinars for booking the webinars, academy governance webinars, and then here you've got the learning review.

If you click on and launch the course, this will take you to your induction page and here some texts kind of explain to you how that works, how booking on the, on the for the webinars work, they will all be held on Zoom here In this case, if you click on this particular part, after reading the welcome, you will see that you have the coming event for this particular case is on the 21st of October, between one and two and to book. Then you go to the event I have already booked, but basically, okay, you'll have a place to kind of book for that. As I've stated in the welcome part, you click, you reserve your place, you go to events attend.

Also, all webinars are going to be recorded and there will be available in the workspace, which I'll show you a little bit later for you to kind of watch at your own time.

After booking, you get a confirmation email, you get an icon attachment, and to join the webinar you can either use the link that will be provided in the email or you can come back to this production page here and about 15 minutes before the actual webinar starts, there will be a button for you to kind of click on and to access, as you can see here, there will be a button here where you can then click to then access the webinar directly. This will have the video which I am currently recording, and over here you have then these two buttons to take you either back to the program or to the workspace, which in this case the academic governance workspace, which I'm going to now explain to you what this is.

Now the workspace, as you can see is over here. The workspace is a space for kind of like discussions between yourselves and uh, also with your tutors. And there's also here a library which gives you all the kind of like study texts, the links to the courses themselves.

We also have playlists, what we call playlists. And within that you've got then case studies or you've got uh, study text for core governance knowledge and skills. You've got a link to the webinar course, which I'll show you later on. And then documentation, case study documentation, this for case studies for module four. So anything that's going to come up here. And of course if you are part of, of this cohort in this thing, you can also upload your own share with your fellow colleagues and students of course.

So I'll go back to the dashboard and kind of use the classic way back in. So here in the core governance national skills webinar 25, 26, same information as well on how to book. Now the difference between for, for this one is that we're offering two separate sessions for the webinar.

So in this session, George, you can either book for all the webinars in session one or for all the webinars in session two, but you can't pick from the different ones. For those of you who don't have this particular course, this is obviously not necessary. So you can go to the webinar timetable and then you'll see what times the webinars are and on which days as well. So you've got session one, which will be on the 28th and session two will be on the 29th. And these are the topics that will be covered in the webinars. So to book for that, then you kind of go to like, let's say you've decided to book for session one because to session one you've got your facilitators or tutors who are going to be here and if you want them to book for that, you kind of click to go to event and then there'll be a sign here to cook to book and then you'll be booked for all of these events, webinars. In the core governance skills, the same thing is going to be uh, so I could go back to the dashboard, I can go to the workspaces in this case for core balance and skills. And you can also, if you want that you've kind of attended all the webinars or seen all the recordings, you can then mark this one as complete.

So I'm gonna go back to the dashboard and from back here I'm gonna go then into the actual academy governance webinars. So obviously as you're probably aware, aware of the certificate in academy governance has a common route force, which is core governance knowledge and skills. And then the next three modules after that will be then specifically on academy governance. Like there will be specifically for social housing governance or for forced governance or for charity law governance.

The only two courses will have all three modules in their own and will not be doing this route one, which part of this pathway is health services and corporate governance.

So in this case here, you go to the academy of this webinars 24 5, 26, and you will then have, uh, the different detections. So you go module three and four, and then you also have all have whether yeah, all of you have, you will have a as assignment release and assessment strategy.

In this case here, for example, I go to module two, this is the timetable for it. This will be the times the facilitator or tutor. And if you go over here, this is the you agreeing for the term and conditions, which are obviously the fact that they are going to be recorded. So therefore, yeah, you need to kind of agree to be recorded. And so once you sign up, then you'll be signed up for all of these three. You can go back to the module three and do the same thing for module three, go to the event and book for those as well. And then of course for the assessment strategy, which is around the 16th of April, that is where you will be able to kind book for that one. Um, going back to the program, I'll go back to the program using that link and then here the learning review then is another section page where this will help. This is going to be where you're going to find all the kind of formative practice, MCQs case studies to practice on the knowledge that you've, you've done before and you'll have all the different different yeah, practice areas to, to, to do.

So case studies, multiple choice questions for the core governance and order skills. For example, you attempt a quiz and of course you'll have all that over there, the case study, you can download the case study and then read for it, read through it, and of course kind of go through the process of answering the questions on it. Same thing will be for module two, module three and module four, where we'll be updating the practice MCQ.

So we're always adding new questions to practice on multiple choice questions and then the case studies as well. This is so, but this is, these do not carry at all any weight with to your final exams in June. So this is just for you to kind of just test your knowledge to revise eventually. And then, and then to kind of, of course this works concurrently with the study text, which you can find in the workspaces and also concurrently with the webinars and the, uh, the recordings of the webinars.

So all that kind of, we are just offering all this kind of support you through, through, uh, through your certificate here. The calendar kind of just shows you, as I've mentioned in the dashboard, it just tells you where the next events are coming and uh, the links, direct links to them themselves here in the help center.

Of course, we've got different areas of that. So like for example, contacts where you can get in touch with us, a few think sections on the tutorial LMS, uh, assessments and students. So yeah, I think broadly speaking, this kind of explains to you how things work on this website. It is fairly simple. We've kind of concentrated all the material, the course in the workspace. So you have the, the, um, academy governance workspace here, 25 26, which you've been joined. Then we also have got public spaces. So this, anybody can join this. So if you want to have discussions with colleagues who are in the health services, for example, you can join us post your questions.

If anybody's on that, then they will reply and then you can initiate a conversation around, initiate a conversation. And it's the same for charity, core governance, corporate governance, core governance, knowledge and skills, and academy governance.

So these are all public ones, which yeah, is helpful for kind of broadening your knowledge of governance and not necessarily within your own sector, but also with regards to your colleagues in different sectors saying Now, just a couple of things I want to kind of say before end this video here in the messaging section, you can go to see all, which then takes you to the messaging space. If you want to contact somebody, you can either click here on contacts and search for the person you're looking for.

So let's say I'm, I'm looking for Andy, who is one of the tutors. I click on Andy, click on his name, and then I can fire off a message to him. He will then get a notification saying that there is a message waiting for him. In the other things that I wanted to show you is, for example, your profile here. In your profile, you've got then details of your profile, the last course that you've accessed, the courses currently that you run, and different administrative things.

So for example, your preferences. You can also kind of organise your preferences here, which is kind of important, which is also the same one that you'll find over here. And this enables you to change your, your profile, your calendar preferences, messages, and notifications.

Notifications is quite important because it, these are the notifications that you will receive from the different areas, whether it's the workspace, the seminar or the program.

If you don't want to receive any of those, then of course you just click on that to disable everything and you won't be getting any notifications.

Another thing that also you can do when in the workspace itself, we've got this little bell on here, so if you want to mute the workspace, then also you can click on that one and that will prevent notifications from coming to you except for the very important one. That doesn't happen very often.

So I guess this is In short the uh, learning management system. My CG of course is this takes you back to the dashboard. This takes you to my cg, the CGI website.

This is also the help center and, uh, some information here with regards to governance. This is the magazine, this is this C CPDs with the Competency framework and knowledge, which is obviously different aspects of the course.

So I'm going to log out now and this is the end of this video. If you have any questions, obviously don't hesitate to get in touch with us earning@cgi.org uk or just yeah, send us an email and uh, we can help you.

Appreciate your attention. Take care. Bye-bye.
