GRAD 1 - Navigating AI: A Guide for Company Secretaries and Boards

Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way organisations operate - reshaping how decisions are made, how information is processed, and how risks are managed. Yet for many governance professionals and board members, the rapid growth of Generative AI and enterprise-level AI solutions can feel overwhelming.

This course provides a clear, accessible, and practical introduction to AI and Generative AI, designed specifically for governance and Secretariat professionals who need to confidently engage with AI-related discussions in the boardroom and wider organisation.

What you'll learn

This practical course demystifies AI by exploring what it is, how it works, and how it differs between consumer and enterprise settings. Delegates will gain essential clarity on the capabilities and limitations of Generative AI, as well as the broader AI landscape that underpins modern organisational technology strategies.

The course goes beyond theory to examine how governance professionals can meaningfully assess AI proposals, identify where AI can (and cannot) create value, and engage with internal stakeholders on the risks and opportunities AI presents. Through structured sessions and guided discussion, delegates will also learn how to establish effective governance frameworks for responsible AI oversight - ensuring ethical, transparent, and well-informed adoption.

By the end of the course, attendees will be able to speak with confidence about AI, contribute to strategic conversations, and support board-level understanding of AI’s role in the organisation.
