The Chartered Governance Institute of the UK & Ireland has submitted our response to the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) consultation on the review of the UK Corporate Governance Code (the Code).

On 16 October, the UK government announced it had withdrawn the draft Companies (Strategic Report and Directors’ Report) (Amendment) Regulations 2023, which were laid in Parliament on 19 July.

Following the impact of its 2021 and 2022 Mindful Exclusion reports, the Institute is inviting members to contribute to a new 2026 study examining how governance decision making is evolving amid rapid change in technology, geopolitics and sustainability.

This guidance note is aimed at trustees (and directors) of multi-academy trusts (MAT) in England and can be adapted for any size of MAT to reflect good practice for each organisation’s needs.

This guidance note defines good practice for board-level induction, and includes a range of helpful checklists and suggestions for those creating their own induction programmes for new directors.

Nicola Caroll, Corporate Governance Director at Rolls-Royce Holdings plc, and Robert Lyons, Deputy Company Secretary at Marks and Spencer Group plc have been jointly named ‘Governance Professional of the Year’ at The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland’s 2021 Awards, which took place at the London Park Lane Hilton Hotel last night.
