Role Overview
The Institute validates post-graduate courses delivered by accredited university partners. The courses align with the Institutes Qualifying Programme and on completion of their course candidates can apply for GradCG membership status with the Institute. The SME will work with the Learning and Standards team and play a key role in supporting the validation and re-validation process. Responsibilities may include:
- Providing specialised knowledge and expertise in governance, providing impartial and independent advice relating to the validation and re-validation of partner organisation postgraduate programmes.
- Reviewing validation and re-validation documents, to include the mapping of partner and Institute syllabus to confirm parity.
- Attending validation and re-validation meetings with Institute partners.

Role Overview
We are looking for individuals with experience in corporate, charity or health services governance. As an SME, you will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering our qualification offerings and learning content. You will provide subject expertise and tutoring on our qualifications, ensuring that our members receive the best possible learning experience.
Responsibilities may include:
- Leading webinars: Conduct engaging and informative webinars for students, sharing your expertise and insights.
- Creating and Updating the course syllabus and study materials: Develop and revise the syllabus and study materials to ensure they are current, relevant, aligned with industry standards and with the Institute’s competency framework.
- Reviewing the syllabus and study materials: Critically evaluate via a technical review the syllabus and study materials, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Creating and reviewing case studies: Develop and assess case studies that provide practical, real-world scenarios for students to analyse and learn from.
- Creating formative MCQs: Design a range of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to support formative assessment and enhance student learning.
- Reviewing formative MCQs: Evaluate the accuracy and usefulness of formative MCQs to ensure that students have the best opportunity to practice what they have learnt, in preparation for their summative assessment.
The majority of our qualifications are now delivered online and therefore a knowledge of online learning methodologies, and the delivery of e-learning would be an advantage.
Qualifications

- Strong communication and presentation skills.

- Experience with online learning delivery.
- Experience with or interest in developing and delivering educational content.

Roles
We are looking for three passionate and knowledgeable individuals for our three Chief Examiners roles:
- Foundation and Qualifying Programme
- International Finance and Administration qualifications at levels 4 and 5
- Sector qualifications – Expertise in one or more of the sectors is desirable but not required.
Role summary
- The most senior examiner and subject matter expert (SME) for a qualification suite.
- Ensures that the academic rigor of the assessment content is consistent over time and that outcomes for students are fair, reliable, and accurate and maintain their value from one session to the next.
- Accountable to the Assessment Review Panel (ARP) for ensuring that an assessment meets the requirements of the qualification specification and maintains standards, year on year.
Responsibilities
- To support recruitment of subject matter experts (SMEs), for example reviewing CVs, attending interviews
- To supervise the construction of assessments and mark schemes to ensure appropriate standards are maintained.
- To ensure appropriate specification sampling.
- To oversee the marking and moderation process, ensuring the consistent application of the mark scheme.
- To produce a Chief Examiner’s report for each assessment session.
- To advise on qualification development.
- To attend Assessment Review Panel meetings (currently twice a year).
Person specification
- Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme graduate.
- Experience working in a governance role.
- Experience managing a team remotely.
- Able to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Excellent communicator.
- Experience of writing and marking assessments.

Role: Assessment Review Panel (ARP) Chair

Role
We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable individual to Chair the Assessment Review Panel (ARP), which currently meets twice a year.
Role summary
As ARP Chair, you will be responsible for monitoring the quality and standards of all CGIUKI qualifications. You are expected to bring an independent view on a range of educational matters, drawing on your knowledge and expertise to contribute effectively to ARP’s work. Duties will include:
- Conducting post-assessment audits of the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP), International Finance and Administration Programme (IFA), Foundation Programme (FP), and Sector Qualifications (SQ), including monitoring standards of marking and moderating, reviewing assessment results, and adjusting results where necessary.
- Review Chief Examiner reports and adjudicate in instances of disagreement.
- Provide feedback and direction on results and reports for all CGIUKI qualifications on an annual basis.
- Advise on academic and professional aspects of all CGIUKI qualifications as required by the Education and Learning Committee (ELCo).
- Attend ELCo meetings to report on ARP’s activities and initiate agreed actions.
- Ensure that ARP’s terms of reference are reviewed and updated annually.

- Fellow of The Chartered Governance Institute UK and Ireland
- Experience working in a governance role.
- Able to meet deadlines.
- Good organisational skills.
