We were established in 2009 for like-minded people living in the North West of England and North Wales who are qualified as, or studying towards being, Chartered Secretaries.
We hold networking and social events, and also technical sessions looking at topical issues of importance for company secretaries.

The Chartered Governance Institute maintains a presence in North West England through its local branch committee. The local branch strives to enhance the presence of the Institute within the North West of England and North Wales, to support members and students throughout their careers and study programmes, as qualified or aspiring governance professionals. Branch Chair
Claire Blackburn FCG
Claire is a Fellow of the Institute and is currently Director of Governance Services at Indigo Independent Governance. Claire supports a wide range of organisations and boards with their corporate governance and company secretarial needs. Claire is passionate about promoting good governance, in particular the importance of diversity and inclusion at the board level and throughout an organisation.
Recently, Claire contributed to researching and writing a section of the 2020 Hampton Alexander Report, looking at the talent pool of females within FTSE 350 companies. Claire joined the Indigo team in July 2021, having previously led the UK Company Secretarial team at KPMG. Prior to joining KPMG, Claire was a senior member of the company secretarial team at Eversheds Sutherland, responsible for transactional support services.

Student Champion
Rowan Moony
Rowan has been a member of the North West Branch Committee since March 2022 and became the student champion in April 2023 after helping the former champion to run student focused events. She holds a BA from the University of Essex and studied the accredited LLM Corporate Governance at the University of Law.
After graduating in 2022, she worked in professional services before moving to a Company Secretarial Assistant role at the Albert Gubay Charity Foundation / the Derwent Group. In her spare time, she enjoys boardgames and movies.
