Understanding our members: insights from the 2024 member survey

Read the full report

In spring 2024, we conducted a survey of members to gain valuable insights into attitudes toward employment and explore key topics of interest.

Building upon the success of the 2023 survey, which delved into the impact of remote working, this year’s survey focused on specific issues such as the influence of AI, perceptions of the role of governance and potential threats to the profession. We also repeated questions relating to the value placed on the governance skillset by employers and attitudes towards pay and benefits.

The report covers:

  • the impact of being Chartered
  • non-governance qualifications
  • senior governance professional job titles
  • threats to career progression
  • NED and trustee roles
  • value and appreciation of the role
  • generative AI.

Understanding what is on your mind is so important to us as your professional membership body. It is reassuring that most members report high levels of job satisfaction; however, we would welcome hearing from those who are earlier on in their career who are less represented in our findings than we would like. Findings from the survey help shape our communications, training and policy activity and I would like to thank all those who took the time to respond.
