This certificate focuses on equipping those who work in the sports sector with the knowledge and key skills necessary to develop good governance practices within their organisation. Those who complete the course will receive a recognised certificate as well the opportunity to become Affiliated members and continue to benefit from the knowledge and support of our governance and compliance community.
If you hold a position with governance responsibilities – a paid or volunteer role – in a sports organisation of any size, from a national governing body or Active Partnership to a smaller local organisation, the Level 4 Certificate in Sports Governance provides an ideal foundation for your career. It is an accessible and practical qualification for those who work at all levels of the sector and those who are attracted to the sports industry and want to gain a key understanding of the principles of sports governance.
This module sets the foundation for the rest of the certificate. It is taken by students completing all of the Institute’s sector qualifications. This will give students an in-depth grounding in the principles of good governance.
This module focuses specifically on the governance landscape in the sport and physical activity sector. It introduces the principles of sports governance, the most common organisational structures in the sector and the principal governance frameworks and legislation to which sports organisations adhere.
This module introduces students to some of the key challenges facing organisations in the sports sector, covering governance, business and ethical considerations. It also offers an overview of the key legal and regulatory compliance requirements and the role played by training and education in sports organisations.
This module explores key themes concerning finance and risk in the sports sector. It also introduces students to sports ethics and the importance to organisations of identifying and engaging effectively with their principal stakeholders.
