Introduction to Corporate Governance

Overview

Good governance is the foundation of strong, sustainable organisations. When applied well, it drives informed decision‑making, enhances business resilience, reduces risk, and builds long‑term value. When neglected, it can lead to reputational damage, financial loss, or even corporate failure.

This course gives you a practical and accessible grounding in the principles of UK corporate governance, ideal for anyone beginning their governance journey or seeking to embed good governance practice within their organisation.

What you'll learn

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the core concepts, frameworks, and responsibilities that shape modern corporate governance in the UK.

Participants will explore the purpose and application of the UK Corporate Governance Code, understand how governance supports value, ethics, and accountability, and gain clarity on the respective roles of the board, directors, shareholders, and stakeholders.

The course blends practical examples with foundational theory, ensuring attendees understand how governance works in practice and how these principles can be applied within all sectors. By the end, delegates will have the confidence and knowledge to support good governance in their professional role.
