Training Course

Role of the Director

Overview

Today's directors operate in an environment defined by increasing complexity.  Boards are expected to navigate evolving regulation, emerging risks, technological disruption, stakeholder expectations and growing public scrutiny, all while delivering sustainable long-term value.

Effective directors must balance governance and oversight with strategic thinking, sound judgement and ethical leadership. This course provides the practical knowledge, contemporary insights and confidence needed to fulfil the responsibilities of directorship and contribute effectively at board level.

Whether preparing for a first board appointment or seeking to strengthen existing expertise, you will gain a clear understanding of what it means to be an effective director in today's governance environment.

What you'll learn

This practical course equips aspiring, newly appointed and experienced directors with the knowledge and skills needed to operate effectively at board level. Through expert guidance, discussion and real-world scenarios, participants will explore directors' legal responsibilities, governance principles and effective boardroom practices.

By the end of the course, participants will be better equipped to exercise sound judgement, fulfil their duties confidently and contribute to strong governance, effective decision-making and long-term organisational success.

Testimonials

"Really good delivery, lots of anecdotes to illustrated points."

"Lyn was a great trainer, highly knowledgeable, engaging and she has given me the confidence to really carry out my duties as a director. I don't feel as exposed now for sure! I also have some takeaways to think how we could do things better in the future and areas we perhaps could focus more on."

"Lyn was an extremely good trainer for this course. She clearly has an excellent knowledge of the subject and made everyone feel at ease. The levels of interaction was good, along with the number and length of breaks throughout the day. The course content is excellent also."
