Affiliated membership is our non-chartered level. It’s a straightforward way to get professional recognition for your existing academic and career achievements, without the need to study for another qualification.
If you already have a relevant degree, professional qualification, or work experience in governance – or a similar sector, like law or finance – it’s likely you’re eligible for affiliated membership of CGIUKI.
"The Institute has been the guiding source throughout my journey as a governance professional. Affiliated membership fees
We offer a concessionary rate to members and students who are based in countries with lower income thresholds than the UK.
If you’re unable to pay your fees for any reason, we may be able to help as part of our membership fees concessionary rate policy.
How to apply
Complete an application form
Send your completed form to membership-journey@cgi.org.uk with the subject header line 'Affiliated Membership Application – Your Name’. Attach a copy of your up to date CV and Job Description (for your current role only), plus any qualification certificates.
We will email you to confirm your eligibility with a link to pay for your membership. You’ll receive a copy of your certificate and acceptance letter in the post.
Next step: Graduate membership
As an affiliated member, you can join the route to chartered membership by passing the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme to become a graduate member. Once you’ve met the minimum work experience criteria, you can progress to chartered membership.
If you’ve already met the minimum work experience criteria once you’ve passed the Qualifying Programme, you can bypass graduate membership and apply for chartered status straight away.
