Multi-academy trust governance – board effectiveness

This guidance note is aimed at trustees/directors of multi-academy trusts (MATs) in England. The guidance can be adapted for any size of MAT to reflect good practice for each academy’s needs. This document, along with other ICSA guidance notes, should provide sufficient generic detail for trustees/directors, and others interested in governance, to think about the governance arrangements within their own MAT and apply those aspects of good practice that are most appropriate and proportionate.
