Chartered membership of CGIUKI illustrates your skills, experience and professional standing. Globally recognised and highly regarded by the governance sector, chartered status tells the world that you’re qualified to work in governance — and that you have the relevant professional experience to put your understanding into practice.

The gateway to chartered governance professional status. When you complete the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme or a validated postgraduate degree, you become a graduate member of the Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland. Achieving graduate member status demonstrates you've got an exceptionally high-level understanding of the many subjects relevant to governance.

Affiliated membership is our non-chartered level. It’s a straightforward way to get professional recognition for your existing academic and career achievements, without the need to study for another qualification. If you already have a relevant degree, professional qualification, or work experience in governance – or a similar sector, like law or finance – it’s likely you’re eligible for affiliated membership of CGIUKI.

Membership of the Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (CGIUKI) is about more than getting a professional qualification. Find out how much your CGIUKI membership will cost and how to pay. Our membership year runs 1 August – 31 July, with fee payment due by 31 July. If you’re already a member, you’ll receive a renewal invitation at the end of June.
